The IMO Convention on BWT enters into force : BIO-SEA by BIO-UV, the only one French industrial manufacturer who offers a treatment solution - 27.09.2017
The international ballast water treatment convention, established by the International Maritime Organization in 2004 (IMO), entered into force on September 8th 2017.
Every newbuilt ship must now be equipped with a ballast water treatment system. Old existing ships require a ballast water treatment management plan, need to exchange their water in the open sea and will imperatively have to be equipped with a BWT system before 2025, according to their IOPP certificate renewal.
This regulation concerns more than 50 000 ships worldwide and represents a major evolution in the respect of the environment.
The conception of BIO-SEA systems have represented 7 business years and a 10 million euros investment in order to get type approved from the IMO and American USCG regulations.
The BIO-SEA by BIO-UV systems are able to treat every type of water (marine, brackish, fresh) from different qualities. The performance and simplicity of the BIO-SEA solution has been already confirmed by almost 100 onboard installations and by working with great shipowners such as: CMA CGM, LDA, MSC Cruises…
The BIO-SEA team works constantly with shipyards, technical partners and with a network of distributors and services around the world.
The BIO-UV teams are proud to contribute to preserving the environment accross these innovations and treatment solutions
